Zhitikara's Green Shield

A large-scale environmental campaign, now a tradition, was held in Zhitikara, organized by JSC "Kostanay Minerals." As part of the "KMGREEN" initiative, held annually since 2021, company employees, along with partners and local residents, planted 1,000 elm saplings. These new trees will form a green belt along the company’s sanitary protection zone, on the border with the city of Zhitikara, contributing to improved environmental conditions in the region.

This campaign stands as a vivid example of corporate social responsibility, bringing together people of all ages and professions. Working side by side were executives and employees of JSC "Kostanay Minerals," representatives of the Central Asia Chrysotile Association (CACA), and active youth from Zhitikara. Their shared enthusiasm and teamwork enabled the successful completion of a large-scale task in a short period of time.

Planting a Thousand Trees Is Just the Beginning

The planting of 1,000 trees is only part of JSC "Kostanay Minerals'" long-term greening plans. The company has announced its intention to plant a total of 10,000 trees over the next five years. This initiative directly contributes to the implementation of the large-scale “Taza Tabigat” (Clean Nature) program launched by the President of Kazakhstan, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev. The program aims to improve the country’s environmental situation and expand green spaces nationwide.

It is worth noting that environmental stewardship is an integral part of JSC "Kostanay Minerals'" development strategy. Tree-planting efforts along the sanitary protection zone and within industrial sites are key components of a comprehensive program to preserve the ecology of the city of Zhitikara and the Zhitikara district. Greening activities are also regularly conducted as part of traditional spring and autumn community clean-up days (subbotniks), with employees from all departments actively contributing to the improvement of industrial areas.
