Kostanay Minerals JSC is the only producer of chrysotile in the Republic of Kazakhstan. Today, more than 3,000 types of products are produced from the fibrous mineral-slate, mineral additives for road construction, facade slabs, pipes, brake pads, and more.
However, the day of protection of chrysotile was created for a reason. Every two years, at a meeting of the parties to the Rotterdam Convention, officials from the European Union and lobbying groups from the United States try to ban the use of chrysotile on the entire planet. The revival of chrysotile asbestos was made possible thanks to the state support and the firm position of Kazakhstan and Russia on the protection of chrysotile asbestos at the international level.
